Over the course of the past two weeks, our organization Let’s Do It Peja had the opportunity to be a part of a major environmental initiative that worked to promote collaboration, activism, and awareness of current air pollution and climate change issues. In keeping with our organization’s mission to support such efforts, Let’s Do It Peja took part in the multinational “Trees of Friendship” initiative, and brought 80 new trees to communal spaces, including roadways, parks, and schools, in both the Prishtina and Peja municipalities. Organized on two separate dates due to heavy rain, in four separate locations, the event was a huge success!

Our efforts were made possible by the European Fund for the Balkans and our other partner organizations, as well as the incredible support we received from both Prishtina and Peja municipal officials. Together with them, we decided about the type of seedlings that we were going to plant, and the locations that needed more planting efforts. Together, we were able to finalize and deliver critical details that directly contributed to the accomplishment of the tree planting project.

Pressing global issues, such as air pollution and climate change, cannot be tackled in one day, and certainly not by one individual or organization. True progress requires a strong and continuous local approach, and united collaboration among many stakeholders. To those who invested time, energy, and who got their hands dirty in the planting process – we thank you and look forward to working together in the future.
